Pressure Sensitive Rotary Labeler

Gernep Soluta

Gernep has developed the Soluta, its Pressure-Sensitive Rotary Labeler Series, to apply pressure-sensitive labels to almost any shape of bottle or product. Convenient for the cosmetics, personal care, and other marketing-driven industries that launch new products regularly.

Servo-Driven Bottle Plates
When entering the labeler, the bottles are separated by a feedscrew and transferred to the bottle plates with a starwheel, where they are held in place between the bottle plates and centering bells.  On conventional rotary labelers, the rotation of plates (with the bottles on it) is done mechanically, either with cams or with a toothed belt for round containers.  On the Soluta Rotary Labeler, the rotation of each bottle plate is controlled by an independent servo motor, which is fully adjustable and programmable from the HMI (touch screen).  Because each bottle shape requires its own pattern of rotations, rotary labelers with servo-driven bottle plates are the best labelers to have on your bottling line to be able to run new bottles in the future.

Herma Label Applicators
For many years, pressure-sensitive labels has been the most popular option for bottle and container decoration in the cosmetic industry.  According to many, Herma offers the most advanced label applicators on the market, and Gernep has standardized with model H400 applicators on all its pressure-sensitive rotary labelers.  Those modular label applicators offers a variety of configuration when it comes to reel size, label size and dispensing speed.  But above all, the servo-driven Herma Label Applicators are perfectly integrated with the main control of the Soluta Rotary Labeler and all parameters are memorized by the PLC for quick format changeovers.

Bottle Orientation
Whether you need to orient the body label with an embossed mark on the container, glass seam or another label, Gernep offers different ways to orient the bottles.  For simple applications, a photocell to detect a mark might work, but sometimes a more sophisticated camera system could be needed to perform a 360 degree mapping of the container and send a command to the servo motors of the bottle plates to position the bottles prior label application.  Thanks to the B&R Automation Control Platform, the response time is incredibly fast, thus allowing high speed labeling and repeatable label placement accuracy on each and every bottle.

Multiple Label Application and Non-Stop Operation
The Soluta Rotary Labeler platform is available in several configurations, and up to 8 Herma Label Applicators can be installed around the same machine frame.   The possibilities are endless to let you apply several different labels to the same product, or to run non-stop production by using redundant label applicators to change the label rolls without stopping production.  In addition to labels applied to the body of the bottles, labels can be applied on top of caps, as tamper-evident, tax strip etc.

Serialization & Traceability
The Gernep Rotary Labelers with servo-driven bottles plates are ready to integrate the hardware to print, inspect and aggregate variable information printed on the labels and the bottles.  Cosmetic products are subject to counterfeiting and serializing is the gold standard for anti-counterfeiting, allowing track and trace, low-cost per item and real-time responses to track the origin and history of your products and identify points of grey market diversions.

A traceability platform implementation from your plant to the end-user will guarantee the authenticity of our products an make sure to minimize diversion, counterfeit and fraud.  To find out more about serialization and traceability visit Optel Group website.
